What equipment do we have to print posters?

Epson SureColor SC-T5200D 36-inch, 914 mm wide format printer

It is also called a large format printer.

What can our poster printer do?

Max width: 914mm. Can print larger than A0; A0 size is 891 x 1189mm.

Max height: 15000mm (15m). About 5 floors of a building

Printing Resolution: 2,880 x 1,440 DPI

Max paper weight: 1.5mm thick. Normal 80 gsm plain paper thickness is 0.065 mm.

Speed:

Up to 28 Seconds Per A1 Mono Print

Up to 28 seconds per A1 colour print

Speed depends on the content being printed.

What paper do we have for poster printing?

We usually keep the following papers in our shop:

Plain paper, 90 gsm, 914 mm width, for the architect's plan

Glossy paper, 190 gsm, 914mm width.

Semi-glossy paper, 190 gsm, 914 mm width.

Roll-up banner paper, polypropylene, grey black, water-resistant, 914 mm width

Adhesive matt 190 gsm paper, 914 mm width

What is the quality of print out?

With glossy paper, the poster we be photo-like quality. Therefore, we can print a photo in A0 size.

If you want a poster to show off your product, we recommend semi-glossy paper.

What is the turnaround time for poster printing? Can I have it the same day?

We are local printer in Ipswich. We have same day service, call us if you need it in urgent.

We aim to deliver the next day. We also provide a 2-hour quick service upon request.

How do we handle a poster printing order?

When we get an order for poster printing with a graphic file, there are several preparation tasks to do before printing.

Size checking

When the width or height of a graphic file cannot fit in printout size, we need to enlarge or shrink the file. Usually, when we fit in one edge, the other side cannot. Therefore, we remove the oversized edge or fill it up with white space.

We will keep the graphics proportional no matter how we change the size.

Resolution Checking

To have the best printout quality, we need 300 dpi. If the resolution is not high enough, the printout will be blurry. We call it pixelated. We will inform the customer that the printout will be pixelized. We cannot adjust raster images (like photos) to have a higher resolution. If the resolution is high enough, we can go to the next step to add bleeding and cut marks.

We usually add 3 mm of mirror bleeding, which means we extend the four edges around the 3mm mirror. For bigger posters or banners, we add 6mm.

Then we add cut marks to the graphic so that we can cut out the bleeding.

After all the above, we can print it on our large format printer, the Epson SC-T5200D.

Our large-format printer uses paper on a roll. This kind of roll paper has 610mm and 914mm width options, and the length can be 30m or 60m. This printer can print up to 15 metres long. 15 metres is about a 4-storey building's height.

The paper type can be glossy, semi-glossy, plain paper, roll-up banner paper, adhesive paper, etc.

The final step is to trim off the bleeding according to the cut mark.

The poster can be further processed with

Can I order an irregular-sized poster?

Maybe you need to put the poster in a frame or something else to fit it in. Just tell us the size. Be reminded that a frame usually has edges. Do not just measure the visible size. Please tell us what the final size you need is, and we will sort it out.

Does your printer print A3 size poster?

Yes we can. You can also consider to print it as A3 flyer. It will be printed with our digital production printer.

Is your poster water-resistant?

Yes, you can choose PVC Waterproof poster.
